The land and its story

The Land Has A Story

Rooted In The Hills Of West Nashville

Long before the first house was built on this land, the road that leads to it was already carrying history in its name. Fire Tower Road takes its name from Sullivan's Ridge Fire Tower — one of Davidson County's historic forest fire lookout stations, part of a statewide network of over 200 towers that once stood sentinel over Tennessee's woodlands. These towers were staffed by trained lookouts who scanned the horizon for smoke, used compasses and azimuths to triangulate coordinates, and radioed neighboring towers to pinpoint fires across Middle Tennessee's forests

Tennessee's fire tower network was built largely in the 1930s through the labor of the Civilian Conservation Corps — President Roosevelt's New Deal program that put a generation of young men to work protecting the nation's natural resources. During World War II, many towers doubled as enemy aircraft spotters before aerial detection made them obsolete in the late 1980s

The property sits in the Bellevue corridor of west Nashville — within Davidson County, the oldest county in Middle Tennessee, established in 1783 — on acreage that has spent most of its history as deeply wooded, gated, and removed from the city just down the road.

This land was named for people who climbed above the noise to see what others couldn’t. We built Arrows Up for the same reason.
